Hello again to all our Bragging Mommy Readers! I hope you are all set for the upcoming Mother’s Day weekend approaching. Recently I was asked to review Xlear Kid’s Tooth Gel and Sparx Candy which are both made with Xylitol. I accepted the offer because I am trying to break my 2 year old of her nasty sugar addiction and also because I enjoy trying new all natural products that my family could benefit from using. Xlear is a company that is “committed to providing consumers with the health benefits of xylitol. Xlear produces all-natural, health-enhancing products for children and adults to use.

When I received the box with Xlear Kid’s Spry Tooth Gel and Sparx Candy inside I saw that they had sent a little handout to explain what exactly Xylitol is and what the benefits are from its use. I don’t know about you but I have only heard of Xylitol once and only because it was an ingredient in a pack of chewing gum that my puppy had eaten 8 years ago. At the time I had to take her for to the vet because Xylitol is not something that a dog should eat just like chocolate. Some of you may be wondering what exactly is Xylitol the same way that I was. “Pure xylitol is a white crystalline substance that looks and tastes like sugar. It’s not an artificial sweetener, but an all-natural sugar alcohol found in many fruits and vegetables and produced in small amounts by the human body.” After reading that Xylitol is actually all-natural and not a chemical as I had originally thought that it was, I was ready to show the kids. Of course my daughter called dibs on the pink container of Spanx Candy. She knows that pink and red candy usually means berry flavored and that is her favorite. Taylor loves anything with a Citrus flavor so he was happy to stake claim on the yellow container of the Spanx Candy!

I handed them the containers of Sparx candy and told them that they could only have a little at a time. I am trying to prevent their normal shoveling of candy into their mouths and finishing a package in 2.5 milliseconds. I really love the containers that Sparx come in with the pop off lid that stays attached so you can’t lose it. I did get to steal a taste of both flavors before the kids demolished them. I really enjoyed both flavors. I normally am not a fan of Citrus flavored candies but Sparx Candy tasted really refreshing to me. Sparx Candy comes in a container that is the perfect size to keep in a purse or diaper bag so that you can indulge in a sugar craving while out and about and not feel the guilt that you normally would. I can totally live with that!

That same night when we were doing our bedtime routines, we added Kids Spry Tooth Gel to brush our teeth with. We were sent the original flavor of Kids Spry Tooth Gel. As a mother that is concerned with the health of her children, having an all natural Tooth Gel to improve my children’s oral hygiene is very appealing to me. I helped Juliana brush her teeth as we normally would before bed but this time I had to re-apply the Spry Tooth Gel several more times than I normally would have. I realized that it was not because of the actual Spry Tooth Gel but the fact that my daughter was sucking it off her toothbrush and eating it! That must mean she liked it! I was so relieved to find out that it was fluoride free and safe for her to swallow! Another plus for a concerned mommy! When it was Taylors turn I helped him apply Sprys Tooth Gel as I normally would but this time, to my surprise, I had to re-apply Spry Tooth Gel onto his toothbrush several times as well! Taylor is normally the child that brushes his teeth properly without trying to eat the toothpaste because he really is not a fan of mint or bubblegum flavoring. This was really out of character for him but at least I know he was enjoying Spry’s Tooth Gel! I went to bed happy that I did not have to fight with any of my children to brush their teeth that night thanks to Spry Tooth Gel!

I am going to be honest and admit that when I thought Xylitol was a chemical sweetener I was not entirely comfortable about buying products that had Xylitol as an ingredient. When I found out that Xylitol was actually all natural and helps to prevent tooth decay among other benefits from using it, I completely changed my mind. Thats why I really think its important to be well informed before making any judgements. I am happy that I accepted the offer to review Sparx Candy and Spry Tooth Gel by Xlear. I got the chance to expand my knowledge and teach my children about something new that can help improve their oral hygiene. Hopefully I can use Sparx Candy to help my daughter switch from a sugar addiction to a Sparx Candy addiction and save her teeth! This has been one of the most positive experiences from my review opportunities this year!
