Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction. –©20th Century Fox
I am a big fan of the X-Men film franchise. I have been so excited to see X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Although it is not the best film in the franchise, I enjoyed watching X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
I loved that they added so many new mutant characters into this movie. This cast is absolutely fantastic. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were great again as Professor X and Magneto. For me, the definite stand outs were Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Peters definitely delivers a great deal of the comic relief in the film. If you liked his ‘slow-mo’ scene in Days of Future Past, his scene in this movie is just as good, if not better.
My one disappoint with this film was the villain. Apocalypse is such a great villain and I was looking forward to finally seeing him in the franchise. He was not the ‘big bad’ I was expecting him to be. He was your typical villain. I wish he would have been more menacing, especially because he was played by Oscar Isaac. I think he is a great actor and should have been used better.
This movie deserves its PG-13 rating. It is pretty violent. I would say it is about the same amount of violence as the previous films. I personally would not take little kids to this movie.
Although it is not as good as the previous films, I still think X-MEN: APOCALYPSE was a good film. I can recommend it.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE gets bragging rights!
