I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“From Disney comes two-time Oscar winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world-and them-forever. Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of. ” -(C) Walt Disney
I have been so excited to see Tomorrowland ever since it was first announced by Disney. I loved the creative concept of the film and the great cast. I was hoping I would not be disappointed after watching the movie. After viewing the film, I really enjoyed watching Tomorrowland.
There are many things that I loved about the movie. First of all, the cast is fantastic. I loved finally seeing George Clooney in a Disney film. He had a perfect mix of seriousness and humor in this film. For me, some of the most humorous moments of the film involved Clooney’s character. Britt Robinson was great as Casey. She really stood her own against Clooney. I loved seeing Hugh Laurie as the villain character in the movie. For me though, the real scene stealer of the movie was Raffey Cassidy as the character of Athena. I do not want to say much about her character to not give away some of the storyline but I thought this little girl was fantastic. Overall, you could tell that the cast had a great time making this movie.
The visual look and effects in Tomorrowland are absolutely stunning. I like that it had a new look mixed with a classic Disney look. Disney never disappoints visually.
The only thing that I wish would have been a bit better was the storyline. I felt that the resolution of the storyline and conclusion were a bit rushed.
With its PG rating, I think that this movie would be a great movie for the whole family. One thing that may be frightening for younger children is some fighting with futuristic ray guns. There is some language but nothing too severe.
I really enjoyed Tomorrowland and can definitely recommend it!
