If you’re in the Twin Cities area, most likely you’re with us and haven’t started school yet… There are advantages and disadvantages to that, but one great this is being able to squeeze in a few of the fun activities you didn’t get to this summer…. like the ZOO!
The last time we went to the Minnesota Zoo, we had an absolute blast, I wasn’t sure how a second visit was going to top it…
It did. The Minnesota Zoo never disappoints. There is always something new to see and experience.
The boys “Found Dory”! =) They just love the Discovery Bay area of the zoo- there is something simply fascinating about the creatures that swim under water.
We are absolutely obsessed with the Hanifl Family Wild Woods. This new addition to the zoo adds so much fun! There is so much to climb and explore, and it all is connected to nature using natural products and colors. I think each of the boys climbed up the net 20 times.
“The Hanifl Family Wild Woods is Minnesota Zoo’s new, immersive nature-play experience that encourages kids to explore and connect with nature. Kids can climb on, crawl through, dig in and discover nature in a “please touch” environment that is free with admission. The 30,000-square-foot upland wooded area adjacent to the Zoo’s new Conservation Carousel features multiple natural play elements like boulder climbs, a climbing horse, log pile climb, mazes, slides, tree top towers with bridges, and more.
Minnesota Zoo is on a mission to connect people, animals and the natural world to save wildlife. We take nature play seriously, because playing in nature leads to protecting nature.”
The Dinosaurs exhibit is definitely a must-see!
“Get face-to-face with life-size roaring, moving (and even spitting) dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus and even T. rex. Then check out all their living animals friends that survived extinction. It’s Jurassic-sized fun for the entire family!”
Our boys LOVED it! (My big “boy” did too!) =) They are so lifelike, it is really incredible. And makes you thankful that they no longer exist. =) It’s only open through Labor Day, so be sure you get there SOON!
As our kids grow, the Minnesota Zoo experience changes and grows. Now that they are reading, they LOVED reading and learning about all the animals on the information boards all throughout the zoo. There are so many interesting facts! And they soak up that information like a sponge! They were talking about the animals, the things they learned, and our visit for a long time.
