Starring Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde and Zoë Saldana, the layered romantic drama The Words follows young writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There’s only one catch – he didn’t write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man’s work, and for placing ambition and success above life’s most fundamental three words.– (C) CBS Films
I really enjoyed watching The Words. I am a big fan of Bradley Cooper’s and he did not disappoint! All the performances in this movie were very well done. I was surprised how many different actors were in this film. In my opinion, Jeremy Irons did the best as ‘the old man.’ I do not expect any less from him though.
One thing that was surprising to me was how layered this movie was. It is a story within a story, within another story. I know that sounds really complicated, but the movie is not confusing at all.
I liked how they show how much passion authors put into their writing and the amount of dedication it can take. Some people have the gift of ‘words’ more than others. This is a big theme of the film.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. It is not groundbreaking cinema, but it was fun to watch.
