I will admit, I am one of those Twilight people. I have been to book signings, concerts, and I have been to special events to meet cast members. I am one of the originals fans though. I read Twilight when it was the only book in the series out. I remember waiting for New Moon to arrive on my doorstep. I was on the ‘bandwagon’ before the films were even released and I am Team Edward. As a huge fan of the books, I have been happy with the movies. Are they the best movies ever made? No they are not, but they are a fun guilty pleasure for me. I loved the first half of the Breaking Dawn-Part 1 but not the second half. This is the movie I have been waiting for, finally being able to see Bella as a vampire.
Was this the best Twilight movie in the series? Yes, definitely! This is the movie that the other films have been building up to. This movie had a great mix of action and humor. This movie was hilarious (sometimes unintentionally though). This movie probably had the best acting in the series. Kristen Stewart looked absolutely gorgeous as Bella in this movie. She was meant to play Bella as a vampire. I can finally say that I actually was happy with her performance in this movie (it only took me 5 movies to get there). Mackenzie Foy was so adorable as Renesmee. I was worried about how she was going to look because of her aging so rapidly. The special effects for this were done well and really did not distract from Mackenzie’s performance.
If you have read the book, know that there is a major twist in the film that was not in the book. When this happened in the movie, there was a huge shock in the audience. My sister and I were pretty dumbstruck. We both looked at each other and said “what did they just do?!” Did this ‘twist’ add to the movie? Absolutely, it was fun to be surprised!
Overall, I feel that this movie was a final ‘love letter’ to the fans. This franchise has been about making the fans happy and it is definitely achieved with this final movie. I do not think that this movie will gain any new fans but Twilight fans are going to be happy and sad to see it end. I loved this movie and will be seeing it multiple times in the theater.
