I have really been wanting to see the new movie The Maze Runner. I received free tickets to an advanced screening. The Maze Runner is rated PG-13 and I would definitely say kids younger than 12 should not go. The movie has some pretty scary parts and I know I wouldn’t want my kids seeing it till they are a little bit older! I have absolutely heard wonderful things about The Maze Runner which is based on the Best-Selling Novel by James Dashner.
The Maze Runner is about a group of boys who one by one over the years have gotten dropped off in what they are calling The Glade. The boys when dropped off have no memory of who they are, where they came from or why they are there. Everyone is pretty content to stay in The Glade and send out a few boys to run The Maze until a boy named Thomas (Played by Dylan O’Brien) comes along and changes the course of everyone’s lives and destiny.
When I first saw the previews for this movie I was really drawn to them. I absolutely love movies like this. I couldn’t wait to watch it and it did not disappoint. The Maze is a great film about not being too set in your ways and what happens when 1 person comes in and shows you that there is another way. My favorite characters from the movie are of course Thomas played by Dylan O’Brien. What I love is that he is NOT happy to be there, he is not content just working and living in the place the boys named The Glade. Thomas is curious, brave, loyal and wants to save everyone. He doesn’t care what is in the Maze he just wants to get out. I also love Chuck played by Blake Cooper. Chuck is a younger boy and of course doesn’t remember anything but he helped Thomas in the beginning and throughout the entire movie. Chuck has a huge heart of gold and is a sweet kid. Another character that I really liked was Alby played by Aml Ameen. He is basically the boy in charge and turned the boys from boys to men by teaching them order, how to work and to provide for themselves.
Living in the Glade the boys just have a couple rules 1. Work for your keep 2. No one goes into the Maze unless you are a runner. Thomas of course changes everyone and everything!
“When Thomas wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Based upon the best-selling novel by James Dashner.” (Maze Runner Official Website)
