I attended an advance screening of this film for my review. All opinions are my own.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures comes the action adventure “The Legend of Tarzan,” starring Alexander Skarsgård as the legendary character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The film also stars Oscar nominee Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, Oscar nominee John Hurt with Oscar winner Jim Broadbent, and two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz.
It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.” -©Warner Bros.
When I first saw the trailers for THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, I was intrigued and interested in the movie. I was worried that the movie would not be very good though. After watching THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, it was better than I thought it would be.
Visually, this movie was done very well. The scenery in this movie was beautiful. I was very impressed with the animal effects. Many of the animals looked very real.
Overall, I thought that the cast was pretty good. Alexander Skarsgård was a great Tarzan and definitely had the right physical features for the role. My mom and I both loved Margot Robbie as Jane. She definitely plays Jane as a strong, female character. Jane is definitely not a damsel in distress in this movie.
I think this would be a great movie for a date night. It has both action and romance. I do not think this movie is appropriate for younger children. It deserves its PG-13 rating “for sequences of action and violence, some sensuality and brief rude dialogue.”
Although the movie has its flaws, my mom and I both enjoyed watching THE LEGEND OF TARZAN and think it is worth seeing.
