“In the epic origin story THE LEGEND OF HERCULES, Kellan Lutz stars as the mythical Greek hero – the son of Zeus, a half-god, half-man blessed with extraordinary strength. Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom. Through harrowing battles and gladiator-arena death matches, Hercules embarks on a legendary odyssey to overthrow the King and restore peace to the land.” (c) Summit
I really like books and movies about Greek and Roman mythology. I was really interested in watching The Legend of Hercules. I was also excited to see it because Hercules was played by Kellan Lutz. He played Emmett in the Twilight movies and I love him in those films.
Personally, I didn’t love this movie. I thought that the storyline was really corny. By the end of the movie, I was not emotionally invested into the story or the lives of the characters. The 3D effects were not very good. The filmmakers also did a lot of slow motion shots that actually distracted from the film. It may be better in regular 2D.
One thing I will say is that there were some really fun fighting scenes. Kellan Lutz really bulked up for this film and had some good action scenes. These action scenes and some other adult scenes are the reason for the PG-13 rating. I wouldn’t personally talk any little kids to these movies. This movie also has a pretty good length, it was only about an hour and forty minutes long.
I didn’t like this movie very much but if you like movies with action and are interested in Greek and Roman mythology, you can decide if this is a movie you would like to see.
