Leah and I were able to go see an advanced screening of The Book of Life which is rated PG and now out in Theaters!
The Book of Life is a cute movie about Dia de Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. Each year in the Mexican culture the Dead sometimes come back to visit their living relatives (in spirit of course) which is called the Day of the Dead. Their loved ones will throw a big party and celebration. The Book of Life contains every thing that has happened all over the world. This movie is rated PG and I wouldn’t suggest taking little ones (2-3) there were a couple scary parts I thought. Leah absolutely loved this movie.
The Book of Life follows 3 main characters Monolo (played by Diego Luna), Maria (played by Zoe Saldana) and Joaquin (played by Channing Tatum) who of course are both in love with Maria. Monolo and Joaquin are friends and Monolo is trying to decide if he should follow in the foot steps of his ancestors or follow his heart! Leah and I really loved this cute movie. We both really enjoyed the songs and the story behind The Book of Life.
“From producer Guillermo del Toro and director Jorge Gutierrez comes an animated comedy with a unique visual style. THE BOOK OF LIFE is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart.
Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, THE BOOK OF LIFE encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.”
