Don’t let those knots control your partner when there is so much you can do to reduce their effects. And by the way you do not need a lot of time or expensive equipment to accomplish your goals. It is super easy to give your partner an exciting and relaxing massage.
How to give neck and shoulder and back massage.
People who spend a lot of time driving or sitting often experience pain on their shoulders, neck and shoulders. One of the perfect ways of releasing the muscle tension they have is by giving them a good massage. The massage will improve his blood circulation, improve his moods, give energy boost and ease any headaches he might be having. Giving your partner a massage will be a very wonderful gift. This is how to go about it.
V. Place your partner in a comfortable seated position.
The most important part is that his back is comfortably straight. Make sure that you can access his upper back and his shoulders too. Use a tool that will give you full access to his back, if you will be using a chair the back of the chair is low so that you can be able to access the back of his shoulders. You can even put a cushion on the ground and make sure his back is straight.
V. Use light, long strokes.
When most people hear of the word massage, what comes to their mind is the Swedish massage. Swedish massage usually use long and gentle motions along your muscles instead of intense pressure like the ones mostly found in the deep tissue massage. While you are giving the massage and you feel some knots, you can apply some focused pressure but for the most part, be sure to keep the pressure firm and not intense.
V. Warm the muscles up.
If you rush to give massage without warming up his muscles it might make him tense up when you touch him. So ease into massage by using your fingerprints to loosen up the neck and shoulders. By doing that, you will be putting him in a mood to relax and get into the experience. Place your middle, ring and thumb fingers on where the head of your partner meets the neck and apply slight but firm pressure. Slide the fingers down the slides of his neck, sweeping over onto his shoulders. Make sure that you apply pressure which is even throughout as you run your fingers all over his muscles.
V. Knead your thumbs into his tense muscles.
You must have felt some knots from the last step, now it is the time to focus on those knots. Place your thumbs on where you felt the knots and place the other fingers of the shoulders of your partner and stabilize the thumbs as you apply some pressure. Apply pressure which is firm with the thumbs in a circular motion and then release the tension of his muscles. Do it throughout his shoulders but be sure to concentrate more on the knots.
V. Glide your fingers up and down his neck.
The muscles that are in the sides of his neck usually carries a lot of stress. You will need to use one of your hands to warm up his neck muscles to ensure you give a focused attention.
V. Apply pressure to the outside of his shoulder blades.
Use your fingertips and press into his shoulder blades and then apply some firm pressure. Make sure to move your hands in a circular motion in order to release the tension from his muscles in the upper back.
V. Use the heel of the palm when you are massaging the shoulder blades.
It can be difficult to massage the spine since it is the center of the back. Applying pressure on the spine might end up causing pain instead of pleasure. Instead of applying a lot of pressure, use your palm to apply broad pressure for the most comfortable feeling.
V. Massage just under the collar bone.
Most massages usually have a focus on the shoulders, upper back, and neck, but you should give some attention to the upper chest as it can also help relieve pain experienced on the neck of your partner.
V. Massage his upper arms.
I know the arms seems like they are not related to shoulder and neck tension but as a matter of fact they are much related. The muscles of your arms, neck and shoulders usually work very closely. This means if you relieve the tension in his upper arms, you will benefit his shoulders and his neck too.
V. Cycle the motions in a un- patterned manner.
If you do focus on a single area for far too long in just one motion, he will get acclimated to that sensation. So it will be wise if you move from muscle group to another and make sure to vary the motions of your hands in order to make sure the experience is pleasurable. The less he can predict your next move, the better it will feel.
V. Use all parts of your hand.
Most of the amateurs will only use their thumbs all through, yes the thumbs are excellent when it comes to applying focused pressure but if you overuse them you can end up causing discomfort or even pain. Instead of just using your fingers, make sure to use all parts of your hands. Just use the thumbs when you have to add focused pressure on knots.
V. Do not massage the bones of your partner.
Massaging his bones especially his spine is going to cause pain. Just apply pressure on the muscles. When it comes to massage the best option is always to hire a mobile therapist but you can as well give your partner one heck of a killer massage!
