“The greatest gift a parent can give their little one is healthy eating habits and sound nutrition – vital for strong mental and physical development. That starts in the kitchen by preparing simple, homemade meals using natural ingredients. Busy parents might think they don’t have time to make their own baby food, but The best homemade Baby Food on the Planet by Tina Ruggiero with Karen Knight proves otherwise, helping moms and dads develop a perspective on infant feeding that will prepare their child for a lifetime of wellness.
Filled with recipes that take 10 minutes or less to prepare, The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet (Fair Winds Press, December 2010, $21.99, paperback with color photos and illustrations) is a trusted resource when it comes to establishing a child’s preferences for healthy, nourishing foods. The book’s recipes not only save time, but parents will be thrilled to learn that preparing baby food at home costs pennies compared to purchasing ready-made baby food.
The book includes informative sidebars that address feeding challenges, food safety and even traveling with baby. Best of all, each recipe features a nutrient analysis, serving size suggestions and recommended preparation methods – assuring parents baby receives the nutrition they need without any of the additives found in most store bought baby food.”
I’ve never been much of a cook, so when I had my first son Harrison I wanted to make him homemade baby food, but after a few attempts gone bad, I gave up. I didn’t have the right tools! Luckily, I’ve been blessed with the awesome opportunity to work with The Bragging Mommy and have been able to review many products that help with making baby food, one of my favorite being “The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet Cookbook” by Tina Ruggiero with Karen Knight. I absolutely LOVE this cookbook! It makes cooking for your baby so much easier- everything is laid out so well, with adorable pictures to boot. The first thing I made {and the biggest hit in my house} was “Winnie the Pooh’s Favorite Breakfast” The name just caught my attention immediately, and the boys loved it {whole-wheat english muffins, homemade honey butter, and honeydew melon}. I love that it gives the nutrition information too, because the recipes are so yummy they are too irresistible to snack on myself. If you think it’s too hard to make your own baby food, I challenge you to try The Best Homemade Baby Food on the Planet Cookbook!
