I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“Based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein, THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN is a heartfelt tale narrated by a witty and philosophical dog name Enzo (voiced by Kevin Costner). Through his bond with his owner, Denny Swift (Milo Ventimiglia), an aspiring Formula One race car driver, Enzo has gained tremendous insight into the human condition and understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life. The film follows Denny and the loves of his life- his wife, Eve (Amanda Seyfried), their young daughter Zoe (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and ultimately, his true best friend, Enzo.”-©20th Century Fox
I have been pretty excited to see The Art of Racing in the Rain. I love the cast and I thought that the movie had a pretty good trailer. I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain.
I loved that this movie was told from the point of view of a dog. I think that it was a fun way to get a different perspective on life. I thought that Kevin Costner was perfect as the voice of Enzo. He voice was very soothing and matched the personality of Enzo.
I thought that the movie had a great storyline. There was some predictability but I was very invested in the story. Make sure you take some tissues with you. Many people, including myself, cried a lot watching this movie.
I thought that the acting in this movie was fantastic. There are a lot of deep themes about family, loss, love, and forgiveness. In my opinion, this movie must have been a very emotional one to act in. I was so impressed by all of the actors in this movie.
This movie is rated PG “for thematic material.” Although this movie is only PG, I do not think it is appropriate for younger kids. This movie has very serious themes about loss and family dynamics. Many things in the storyline will be hard for younger kids to understand. I think that this movie would be appropriate for kids ages 10 and up.
I loved The Art of Racing in the Rain. I will definitely watch it again.
