I attended an advanced screening of Tammy for my review. All opinions are my own.
“Tammy (Melissa McCarthy) is having a bad day. She’s totaled her clunker car, gotten fired from her thankless job at a greasy burger joint and, instead of finding comfort at home, finds her husband getting comfortable with the neighbor in her own house. It’s time to take her boom box and book it. The bad news is she’s broke and without wheels. The worse news is her grandma, Pearl (Susan Sarandon), is her only option-with a car, cash, and an itch to see Niagara Falls. Not exactly the escape Tammy had in mind. But on the road, with grandma riding shot gun, it may be just what Tammy needs.” (c) Warner Bros.
I personally enjoyed Tammy. My husband attended the screening with me and enjoyed the movie as well. First off, let me say that you have to go into seeing this movie with the expectations to laugh and that is it. It is a silly movie, nothing more. I have seen other critiques reviews where they are saying this movie is awful, poorly written, etc…to that I wonder what they were expecting from the movie? I guess my experience was different since I had no expectations and just enjoyed the humor for what it was. Maybe I am just not as sophisticated as the other reviewers, LOL. If you are uptight then this movie isn’t for you. But if you can laugh at awkward and silly situations with some crude humor thrown in, then you will like this movie. It made me laugh throughout and I found it entertaining.
I am a big fan of Melissa McCarthy and I think she was very funny as Tammy. I also enjoyed seeing Susan Sarandon as Tammy’s grandma and think she did a great job. Without those two the movie wouldn’t be what it is.
Go with your friends to this movie expecting to laugh and you will enjoy Tammy.
