If you went around and asked people what their favourite season is, most would say summer. You get to spend more time outside as it is warmer and there isn’t so much wet mud being walked through your home. The one drawback to summer is that we always want to be outside and would much prefer to be in the garden rather than doing chores. Here we have the best summer cleaning tips to get your jobs done faster, so you can spend more time out in the garden!
Dust More Often
When its summer we want to flood our homes with natural light but doing this will show up more dust. Just spend five minutes in the morning running around with a duster to reduce the chances of seeing it. If you do this every morning, you won’t see a build-up. Learn more at Acleanhome.net.
Sunshine Means Barbeques
We all love a good BBQ, especially on a hot summer’s afternoon. However, there is little more frustrating than opening the BBQ for the first time of the season to find that the grill is still dirty from the year before. When summer starts, grab the grill straight away to clean so you can be sure you are ready for that first BBQ.
Vacuum More Frequently
One of the big drawbacks to summer is allergies. Whether it is grass or tree pollen, some people really suffer with these allergens, so for that reason make sure you vacuum more regularly. You may find that it seems pointless as your house is already clean, but it can make the world of difference for any family members that suffer from hay fever.
Take The Opportunity To Polish The Floors
As we’ve previously mentioned, summer means less wet weather and less mud! Not only is that great news for our poor beaten up carpets, it’s also great news for a wooden floor. Whilst the kids are outside, why not polish the wooden floors. Summer will possible be the only time you’ll get away with it as it is an extensive task, but your floors will thank you. Not only does it make them look cleaner, it will also extend the life of them!
Keep Your Trash Fresh
Trash and summer sun aren’t two things that mix and one of the worst smells you can come across is trash baking in the sun. If you are using trash bags in your home, each time you put a new liner in, crumple up newspaper and put it in the bottom. The newspaper will absorb any discarded liquid and keep you from having to deal with unwanted (and totally disgusting spills). If you are concerned about the odour that comes from your trash, whenever your trashcan is empty, put some baking soda at the bottom of it. The baking soda will absorb all of the unwanted smells and keep your kitchen smelling fresh.
Use Leftovers To Keep Your Kitchen Smelling Fresh.
That sentence sounds utterly ridiculous but bears with me. If after a barbeque you have a few lemons left, use them to clean parts of your kitchen! Lemon is excellent on all things stainless steel and it will give kitchen a clean citreous odour that cost you no money at all. You can also use lemons in the microwave to get your kitchen smelling even better. Simply cut them and place them in a bowl of water. From there, pop them in on a medium high heat for no more than three minutes. The smell of warm lemons will fill your kitchen and make sure it smells clean and fresh.
Remove Water Rings
Kids and coasters don’t mix and you’ve probably ended up with water rings all over your favourite coffee table. If this is the case, simply plug in your hair dryer, turn it on to a high heat and hold it over the water ring. You’ll see it disappear before your eyes! Don’t worry if the wood looks dry after you’ve done this. Simply get a rag that has been dipped in olive oil and rub that around the area you have just dried out, simple right?
Final Thoughts
Summer cleaning gives you the chance to clean areas you don’t get to during the winter period. Chances are, cleaning isn’t your favourite past time activity, but by keeping on top of it and making sure the small jobs are done on a daily basis, you can be sure that no big task will crop up. Summer also gives you the opportunity to clean areas that you don’t normally get to clean as the kids aren’t in the house, so why not make the most of it?
