I was invited on an expenses paid trip to CA by Disney to cover the #StrangeMagicEvent and #PixarInsideOut in exchange for my posts of the trip experiences. While on the trip I got to view and advanced screening of Strange Magic. All opinions are my own.
Strange Magic is from the mind of George Lucas and is NOW PLAYING in theaters!
“Strange Magic,” a new animated film from Lucasfilm Ltd., is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic bring to life the fanciful forest turned upside down with world-class animation and visual effects. Directed by Gary Rydstrom (“Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation,” “Lifted”) from a story by George Lucas, “Strange Magic” will be released by Touchstone Pictures on Jan. 23, 2015.
It was such a cool and surreal experience being able to screen the Strange Magic Movie in the theater at Skywalker Ranch with George Lucas himself! Wow! I expected I would like the movie and that I would think it was fun for kids. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually loved it! A lot! Strange Magic is a charming and hilarious musical comedy.
I enjoyed watching the movie way more than I had expected. Why? It was very well done. The movie has incorporated remixes of popular songs sung by the characters. This musical aspect of the film made it a hit for me. The music is fantastic. I even found myself wanting to sing along to a lot of the songs. I will be buying the soundtrack for sure.
It was also very hilarious and very clever. I was surprised by how much I was laughing throughout the movie. And it isn’t added adult humor just good clean comedy for all ages.
Visually it was fun to watch. The effects were very well done. I also really enjoyed all the creatures, they are so fun and very interesting to look at. George Lucas has an incredible mind and has created another hit with this movie.
Then there is the storyline. It is a very great story with a wonderful message at the end. It is a message that George Lucas wanted to get out to today’s tweens. That love doesn’t always look like you think it will. It is about what’s inside. “Everyone deserves to be loved.”
I enjoyed the whole movie and highly recommend taking the whole family to see it. It is one that everyone is sure to enjoy.
Strange Magic is rated PG and is a must see film for the while family!
If you haven’t had a chance to see the trailer yet be sure to watch it…
