Do you have an opinion to share? Do you want to share your life experiences with others? Perhaps you want to offer advice? Or maybe you just want to show the world a day in the life! Whatever your reasons for starting a blog, there are no “right ways” to approach it.
However, they do say that blogging is both an art and a science, with a dash of creativity and a good measure of free time added to the mix; getting this balance right is absolutely crucial to your blogs success. So, if you want to be a successful blogger, then you’re in luck! Read on for 5 simple tips to help you create a successful blog in 2019.
Technology is your friend
Seen as you’ll be publishing your work online, this seems pretty obvious. But there are more tools out there that will help your blog become successful than you might think. From proofreading and editing software to plagiarism checkers and if you’re going to use citation in your work, you will need an mla citation generator! This kind of software is crucial in helping your blog stand apart from others. When readers and potential subscribers see a quality blog post that’s free of mistakes, that flows well and doesn’t plagiarise the works of others, then they’re sure to come back for more.
Pick a topic you’re passionate about
You might not be able to talk in too much detail about the works of Vincent Van Gogh, but you might be able to write in droves about how you keep your kids entertained on a 5 hour car journey. Whether you’re a gamer, parent, fashionista or a seasoned traveller having a topic and theme for your blog will certainly attract the people you want to reach e.g. Those who are looking for advice or something to relate to. Even if you don’t have a specific hobby, writing about your everyday life can also be a great topic – if written well!
Read, read, read!
Don’t be afraid to read other blogs and get a feel for how other bloggers write. Not only will this give your writing skills a boost, but it will probably give you plenty of inspiration. Remember, blogging is a learning curve. Gaining subscribers is great – but keeping them interested and coming back is a whole different ball game.
Be responsive
If you’ve ever commented on a vlog on YouTube or a post on Instagram, you’ll probably feel a twinge of excitement when the creator of the post likes your comment or replies back! It’s a great feeling – so make sure you’re responsive to your own readers. Reply to comments, or simply thank them for taking the time to read your work. They’ll feel appreciated and are more likely to come back!
Encourage participation
Participation and interaction with your readers gets your blog noticed and keeps your readers interested. Try a poll, ask your readers which topic they’d prefer you talk about next, try a quiz or even a survey!
