I attended an advanced screening of this movie for my review. All opinions are my own.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters THIS FRIDAY Dec. 18th.
DON’T WORRY, THERE ARE NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW
I have been so incredibly excited for the new Star Wars film. I am a big fan of the franchise.
I loved Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Force Awakens has a great storyline. From the first moment when the iconic words, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…” are displayed on the screen, you are engrossed in the story. For me, there was never a dull moment. The story is serious but definitely has many great comedic moments. Fans of the franchise and new fans will be happy with the story from the beginning until the end.
The movie’s cast is fantastic, especially the newcomers. Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are fantastic as Rey and Finn. They impress with their performances and carry the film well. I am excited to see where the filmmakers take these characters in the next installments. It was also fun to see old characters and cast members show up along the way in this new journey. All of the old cast members step back into their characters as if they were just playing them yesterday, especially Harrison Ford as Han Solo. He was one of the best parts of the film. Another fun newcomer that I loved is not actually human. The new droid BB-8 is perfect and may give R2-D2 a run for his money in the cuteness department.
Visually, this film is stunning and does not disappoint. I would not expect any less from Disney or from director J.J. Abrams. Although with all the new technology we have today, I felt like the visuals had an old school Star Wars feel. I did not have the chance to see this movie in 3D but I actually may be interested in seeing The Force Awakens in the 3D format.
Although this movie has a PG-13 rating (for sci-fi action violence), I think that most children will be able to watch this film, especially if they have seen the other films in the franchise. The violence is about the same amount as the other films.
Old and new fans of Star Wars will be very happy with this film. I am really excited to see this film again in the future. I LOVED Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
Take your family to see it This Weekend! And you will all want to see it in theaters again over the Holiday break!
