Have you ever had one of those moments where you say to yourself “Wow, I’ve never ever thought of that before!”
I totally had one of those moments while watching this video from the American Cancer Society.
There are tons of cancer patients who need to receive treatment in a town or city that is far away, and they have no place to stay. How awful is that? It’s something I’ve never even thought of before. Cancer has touched so many of us in one way or another. And trying to picture ourselves or someone close to us having to stress out about paying for a hotel room while they should be focusing on getting healthy is so sad. As if dealing with a deadly disease isn’t tough enough. It’s hard to see past the health issues, to see that there are also so many practical issues involved in fighting cancer.
This video makes a super powerful statement- A room shouldn’t be the difference between life and death. Wow. Could you imagine a room being the difference of life and death for you? For your spouse? Your child? I would assume everyone can get behind the idea that a room shouldn’t be the difference between life and death. But it still takes some of us to step up and actually donate to make a difference.
I really hope you take the time to watch this video, and get involved! Last year the American Cancer Society provided lodging for 50,000 patients and caregivers. Together we can make sure that each cancer patient and caregiver has a place to stay and lift that burden so they can focus on fighting cancer!
