I was very excited to receive two different games from Educational Insights. I am always looking for new, fun learning games for my classroom. I love the Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game and the Grandma’s Trunk Alphabet Game. I am very excited to try them in my classroom with my students.
The Sneaky Squirrel Game reminds me a lot of Hi-Ho Cherry-O. The object of this game is to collect 5 different colored acorns for your tree. You spin the spinner to determine how many acorns you get to pick up or what color you get to choose. There are a couple of different spots on the spinner as well. Some of examples of the different spots on the spinner are you can take an acorn from another player or you can lose all your acorns. One of the different elements in this game is that you have a squirrel squeezer (like twizzers) that you use to pick up the acorns for your acorn collection. I really like this idea to pick up your acorns because it really helps kids develop small motor skills. This game helps develop strategy skills and also works on color recognition. I really liked playing this game and I am excited to use it in a small group center at school.
The first thing that I noticed about the Grandma’s Trunk Alphabet Game is how cute the packaging is. It really looks like a trunk your grandma would have. The great thing about this game is that it has several different games you can play with children. A lot of the focus with these games are letter recognition and alphabetical order. Both of these skills are needed for children to succeed in school. This is one of the big things I really focus on in kindergarten (as well as the letter sounds). I am so excited to use this at school to help my students with letter recognition. I love that this game has five different games to play so I am not just playing the same thing. I love having the variety.
Both of these games are fabulous! They would be great for your home to help your children with colors, small motor skills, and letter recognition. They are not only educational but they are also fun! Having fun is important to learning as well!
