If you have read some of the reviews I have written then by now you know that my family is fairly fond of collecting DVDs. The most recent DVD I was asked to review was Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground. I knew that I could not say no because it looked like something that my 4 year old was going to want to have in his collection of DVDs. I accepted the offer even though I had never seen the actual cartoon up to that point. As usual when the package arrived that held the DVD in it all the children were jumping in my face to find out who the DVD was going to be for this time. As soon as I pulled out the DVD Taylor snatched it out of my hand and started jumping up and down! He said,” Thank you Mommy! I love this one!”. I knew before we put it on that I had made the right decision by accepting the DVD but I did not know yet exactly how much my son was going to love it!

The day that the Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground DVD arrived happened to correspond with the weekend that Taylor was going to spend at my mother-in-laws house. So we packed the DVD with his portable DVD player to take with him on his little trip. Three days later when I was waiting for Taylor to be brought home I was excited to ask him about how he liked watching his new Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground DVD. As he came strolling in I noticed that Taylor was holding a Blaster in his hand with a slug sticking out the end. My mother-in-law was carrying his overnight bag in one hand and what looked like a homemade target of one of the bad guys from Slugterra in her other hand. He ran into my arms and first thing out of his mouth was not how much he missed me or how happy he was to be home. He asked me if he could put his new Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground DVD in to watch. I laughed and of course let him put the DVD in. Evidently, Taylor had enjoyed Slugterra so much that he would not let anyone else watch anything on the television except his new DVD. Of course my mother-in-law had to spoil him before bringing home and purchased a blaster and 6 new slugs to go with it for him to play with!

Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground DVD has 5 episodes and includes some bonus features as well. Eli is the human hero in Slugterra that wants be the best Slug Slinger around. Slugs are little creatures that have special powers. They get shot out of Slingers and when they reach a certain speed there powers transform them into bigger creatures and depending on their special power they can do a lot of damage or help to save the day. The Slugs are all so cute when they are tiny but they can be very destructive when fired out of the Slinger. There are good slugs and then there are Ghoul slugs that are bad. The enemy of Eli is a man named Dr Thaddeus Blakk and he is the one that turned regular slugs into the evil ghoul slugs. Eli and his friends fight them in order to stop Dr Blakk. Slugterra: Heroes of the Underground DVD is now played daily on our television. It has become the number 1 DVD in this house that my kids want to watch. My husband has even gotten into watching Slugterra with our children!
