We recently were seleceted and hosted our #DisneySide @HomeCelebration party provided by MomSelect! We were so excited to receive our goodies from MomSelect and show off our #DisneySide! Our family is definitely Disney oriented. In fact last May we took the girls to Disneyland, Leah’s 2nd time being there and Charlotte’s first time. Both of the girls had an absolute blast and loved every minute of it.
When I think of Disneyland several things come to mind… Food, Magic, Mickey Mouse and…Princesses! When I was planning our #DisneySide party I was really racking my brain on what to do. Then I thought what better way to celebrate my husbands birthday then with a Disney themed party! I invited all of his siblings over and my cute nieces and decorated the house with the decorations we were provided in our party package. My girls loved helping put up the decorations. I also knew I wanted to make our favorite food to eat in the Disneyland Park which is the famous Monte Cristo sandwich from the Blue Bayou. Whenever we go to Disneyland (which is not very often) that is the 1 meal that I absolutely have to get. I found a great recipe (which I will provide at the end of the post) for making these awesomely scrumptious sandwiches. The sandwiches were a huge hit! I also decided to make a staple from Disneyland that everyone says is THE best but I have had yet to try. The infamous Dole Whip drink…yes it is infamously yummy! I was provided the recipe in my press packet and it was so easy and super duper yummy as my 2 year old would say.
I also decided to make Mickey Mouse ear cupcakes using Oreos and Mini Oreos, so easy and really yummy. My sister in Law made “Frozen” pretzel wands which everyone devoured before I even got to try one!
I love showing my #DisneySide and was really excited to have the kids make Tshirts to show their creative DisneySide. The Tshirts from Hanes and the Fabric Markers were provided in our Press Packet and the girls were all really excited. All of the girls really love the movie UP and went with the Rainbow/Princess theme on their shirts. The girls are ages 2-5 and had a blast making these fun shirts.
What kind of Disney party would be complete without a Princess dress up party! Snow White, Anna from Frozen, Jasmine and Belle all decided to make a guest appearance and signed autographs and posed for some pictures before the clock struck 8pm and they had to rush off to bed before they were turned back into little girls.
I absolutely love Disney and am so thankful I was a part of this fun party!
“Blue Bayou Monte Cristo Sandwich
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 3/4 cups plus 2 tablespoons water
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
8 slices egg bread (challah works well), sliced 1/2-inch thick
8 thin slices ham
8 thin slices turkey
8 thin slices Swiss cheese (make it meatless by removing turkey and ham and including a couple more cheese choices!)
3 cups canola oil
Confectioners sugar
Blackberry preserves
Directions:
Line a cookie sheet with paper towels; set aside.
Whisk the egg and water together in a mixing bowl. Add flour, salt, and baking powder and whisk thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth, scraping sides of bowl.
On one slice of bread, arrange 2 slices of ham, turkey, and cheese, covering the bread evenly. Place another slice of bread on top and slice each sandwich in half diagonally.
Heat oil to between 365 degrees F and 375 degrees F in a 10-inch pan. Do not let the oil reach a higher temperature than this; if the oil starts to smoke, turn the heat down. Dip half of the sandwich into the batter, allowing excess to drain, and very carefully place into the oil.
Repeat with the other sandwich half. Cook 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Place the cooked sandwich on the prepared cookie sheet in a warm oven until ready to serve. Repeat with the other three sandwiches.
Cook one at a time, and allow the oil to reach the desired temperature between each.
Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve with blackberry preserves on the side.” (disneyfoodblog.com)
