I attended an advanced screening of Sex Tape for this review. All opinions are my own.
“Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) are a married couple still very much in love, but ten years and two kids have cooled the passion. To get it back, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in THE JOY OF SEX in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea, until they discover that their most private video has gone public. In a panic, they begin a wild night of adventure – tracking down leads, roping in friends, duping Annie’s boss – all to reclaim their video, their reputation, their sanity, and, most importantly, their marriage.”-Columbia Pictures
Sex Tape Opens in Theaters tomorrow Friday July 18th
I thought this movie was absolutely hysterical! I felt like the love scenes were tastefully done. They aren’t hot steamy sex or raunchy sex scenes but more silly “realistic sex”. In fact the majority of it is in the first 5 minutes of the movie when Annie is reminiscing about how their sex life used to be. We don’t see much in way of private parts with the exception of full butt and a little side boob. It all has a funny (ridiculous) vibe to it.
I could relate to so many elements of this movie. Being a busy parent finding the time for your significant other usually gets put on the back burner. This movie is about a Sex Tape getting out through the cloud on the surface, but really it is about a married couple finding their passion again. All while keeping us laughing from scene to scene. Also Annie’s character is a mommy blogger so I loved seeing that role in a movie!
Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel were fantastic together in this movie. They have great chemistry and are both very funny! I also enjoyed Rob Lowe in this movie he delivered his quirky character perfectly and is also very funny.

I enjoyed the movie and think it is a great date night movie to see with your husband, wife or significant other. That being said, if you are easily offended by the “F” word, this movie isn’t for you since it is full of them. Also, if silly simulated sex scenes will bother you then you will want to pass on this one.
Sex Tape is rated R for Strong Sexual Content, Nudity (we see both lead actors nude from the back and a little side boob from Cameron), Language (lots of F words), and some drug use (there is a cocaine scene).
In case you missed it, be sure to check out my interview with Cameron Diaz & Jason Segel as well as my Q&A with director Jake Kasdan I had such a great time chatting with them about the movie.
