With all of the lovely hot weather, we have been having demand for short-sleeved shirts and tees has soared. So, it is not really surprising to see retailers like jacamo.co.uk offering their customers a selection of over 700 different types. It would be practically impossible not to find a few that the men in your life will want to wear. But, as usual, there are some styles that stand out from the rest. Here is my round up of the best, many of which are still easily available in the shops.
Football crazy
Unsurprisingly, football shirts and t-shirts are amongst the most popular. But, at the time of my writing this article, you will be hard-pressed to find England shirts in the most popular sizes. The good news is that more are in production, so it should become easier to find them. Even after the World Cup is over people are still going to want to buy and wear this style of t-shirt. Minimalist designs
However, this is really a trend blip. As usual, it is print t-shirts that dominate. Gone are the ultra bold logos and badges that have been popular for the past three years. They have been replaced by large, yet minimalist designs. Most designers are still filling the chest area with a logo, but are opting to use thin lines to draw their designs and logos.
Boxed typography
Simple, ultra-short phrases framed by a box are also proving popular. For example, love and fear separated by a simple line. They are not exactly fun but are part of the move back towards more muted clothing. Right now, when it comes to t-shirt phrases – less is more.
Animal illustrations
Animal designs also remain popular. Bold yet, simple and clever designs are selling particularly well. These look especially striking when paired with a pair of plain chinos or shorts.
Faded sub-T-shirts
Modern dying techniques are enabling designers to be a bit more experimental with colour. A great example is this is the faded sub style of t-shirt. The colour gradually fades out as it goes down the garment. It is a surprisingly interesting look which is simple, yet attractive.
All over patterns
The sub printing technique is also being used to produce t-shirts that feature an all over pattern. Think of them as a kind of a combination between a Hawaiian style shirt and a tee. However, most designers appear to be favouring more muted designs, at least for now. If this style of t-shirt takes off you can expect to see brighter colours and bolder designs being put to use.
Vest tees
After many years of only being available on market stalls, armless t-shirt vests appear to have come back into fashion. Amongst the weight-lifting fraternity, they have never completely gone out of vogue. But, it looks like 2018 is when they will finally go mainstream again.
Getting the sizing right
Regardless of what style of t-shirts you choose to buy getting the fit right is crucial. Simple things like buying one that is the right length and getting a rare customize t-shirt can make a huge difference to how good it looks, once on. This comprehensive t-shirt fitting article tells you everything you need to know on the subject.
