I have currently been using a Safety 1st Convertible Car Seat with my daughter and love it. But I was in need of another car seat for our second car. So when Safety 1st offered to send me one of their new convertible car seats to review, I was excited to try it out.
“The Safety 1st Elite 80 Air + 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat features our new Air Protect + to keep children from 5-80 pounds safer during the ride. Air Protect + combines the advanced protection of our Air Protect® cushion system with patented GCell HX™ foam designed with hexagonal shapes for superior protection around the torso. TOGETHER they provide full body side impact protection.”
I was impressed by reading/watching all the safety features of this car seat. I love knowing that I am providing the safest ride possible for my daughter. When the car seat arrived she was thrilled and wanted to hop right in. I love that it is a very roomy car seat and she is even able to sit “criss cross applesauce” comfortably. She loves it as you can see from her cheesy grin!
Probably my favorite feature of this car seat is that you can use it from 5 lbs. to 80 lbs. It is 3 car seats all in one. Rear facing, forward facing, and as a Belt Positioning Booster Seat. One car seat can last for years and years!
“More than just a convertible car seat, the Elite 80 works in rear-facing mode for babies up to 40 pounds, then – like traditional convertible car seats – converts to forward-facing with harness, but features an extended weight range to keep children safely in harness all the way to 80 pounds. In its 3rd mode, the Elite 80 goes beyond the traditional convertible seat to convert into a belt-positioning booster car seat for children up to 100 pounds. In short, this three-in-one car seat will carry your little one safely from infant to 100 pounds.”
It comes with removable padding to accommodate even the littlest passengers.
My daughter is almost two and we still have her rear facing. Installing this car seat in our car was very easy. There are labels and color coded belt paths making it easy and quick to install.
We have a Subaru Legacy and it fit rear facing our car without any problems. I even have it on the second position recline. The one click latches make it easy to install as well.
Here it is shown as a forward facing seat in my car.
“The Elite 80 includes a steel-reinforced metal frame for extra stability and includes a 4-position recline for an optimal fit to your car.”
Reclining the seat is easy, you just pull out the red panel on the back and recline to the desired position. There are also lines on the sides of the car seat which show you the safe levels of recline as your seat is installed in your vehicle. Having this recline feature provides a more comfortable ride for your little one.
I love how easy it is to adjust the 5 point harness seat belt.
You simply squeeze at the top (there is a label) and adjust as needed up or down. No re-threading makes it super easy to adjust this as your child grows.
