Rio 2 Movie Review ~ Opens in Theaters Today

Leah absolutely loved the movie Rio and couldn’t wait until Rio 2 came out. We were able to go to an advanced screening of Rio 2 and Leah loved every second of it!

The entire cast of Rio was back for Rio 2 plus some new and exciting characters! Some fun new additions were Blu’s (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel’s (Anne Hathaway) triplets Carla (voiced by Rachel Crow), Tiago (Pierce Gagnon) and Bia (Amanda Stemberg).

Leah’s favorite was Tiago who ” is the youngest of the kids by three minutes, and the only boy. If something needs to be blown up or destroyed, he is the one to go to. Always up for adventure, Tiago quickly becomes right at home exploring the wild.” (Rio 2 website)

Some of the other new characters were Eduardo (voiced by Andy Garcia), Roberto (Bruno Mars), and Leah’s 2nd favorite Gabi (Kristin Chenoweth) “a tiny, pink, cute, but poisonous, dart frog who has been stuck in a jar in the marketplace, watching Nigel from afar with adoring eyes. She realizes it’s a bit of a stretch for a frog to have feelings for a bird, especially since touching him would kill him, but she is thrilled to be join Nigel on his quest for revenge. She may be small, but her villainous heart is large.” (Rio 2 website), plus many more!

Rio 2 starts off in Rio with Blu, Jewel, their kids and all of their friends. Blu and Jewel decide to take a vaction to the Amazon where their humans are working. They didn’t know that this would be a flight and adventure of a lifetime!

We absolutely loved the music and story in Rio 2. Leah really loved the silliness of the birds and I loved how colorful everything was!
