A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel
robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns
just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from
one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom,
he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build
and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal,
no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one
last shot at a comeback.
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, my first thought is that this movie was ‘extreme rock ’em sock ’em robots.” I was afraid that the movie would be lame. I then saw that Hugh Jackman was in it. That was enough for me! After seeing this movie, I can say that I loved this movie and I am excited to see it again!
Hugh Jackman was great in this movie. I really believed that he could be a world class boxer. One thing that was really neat was that Sugar Ray Leonard was a consultant for this film. No wonder Hugh Jackman was believable. Mr. Jackman really put his heart and soul into this film.
The special effects were awesome! These robots looked amazing. I loved how each robot had it’s own unique look.
If you are looking for a fun, entertaining movie, Real Steel is NOT a movie to miss!
