I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“Dwayne Johnson stars as primatologist Davis Okoye, a man who keeps people at a distance but shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from poachers. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size.
To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with discredited geneticist Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris) to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.”-©Warner Bros.
I am a big fan of Dwayne Johnson. The only reason why I was really interested in seeing Rampage was because he was in it. After seeing it, I thought Rampage was just okay.
There were a few things that I liked about Rampage. It had some pretty cool visual effects and some fun action scenes. I also thought that Dwayne Johnson and Naomie Harris were great together as the two leads.
I wish that the storyline would have been more interesting. It was a typical animal monster movie. The plot was pretty predictable.
Rampage is PG-13 “for sequences of violence, action and destruction, brief language, and crude gestures.” I thought that this movie definitely pushed its PG-13 rating a bit. It is pretty violent, especially with a lot of creature violence. I think it will be best to leave little kids home. It will probably scare them.
Overall, I think you know if you are the target audience that would enjoy Rampage. I personally would not pay full price to see it. If you are interested in seeing it in theaters, I would probably wait to see it on a bargain night.
Rampage is now playing in theaters! For more information, you can visit the official Rampage movie website.
