“Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.”

I am a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I was so excited to watch the newest addition to the franchise. This time around, Jack Sparrow and other pirates are on an adventure to find the Fountain of Youth.
My favorite thing about this and the other Pirates movies is the amazing cast. I am a big Johnny Depp fan so I think I may be a bit biased. I thought Johnny Depp was the best part of this movie. He plays Jack Sparrow so well. He has made Jack such an iconic character that it is hard to improve on such a great performance already. I will say that I thought that he and Penelope Cruz, who plays another pirate named Angelica, had great chemistry. I hope that if they continue the franchise that she comes along again for the ride.,
I loved that they also brought back Geoffrey Rush and Kevin R. McNally as Barbossa and Mr. Gibbs. They always bring great humor to the story. Ian McShane was great as the new villain, Blackbeard. He is definitely a pirate to be feared! In addition, watch for fun camoes by Dame Judi Dench and Keith Richards.
For romance lovers, do not worry. They have added two new characters to the story. There is a cute romance between a missionary named Philip Swift (played by Sam Clafin) and a mermaid named Syrena (played by Astrid Bergès-Frisbey). I think that these two characters were added to replace Will and Elizabeth from the previous films. I thought this was a cute storyline but I wish that the filmmakers had developed their storyline more.
For parents wanting to take their little kids, know that there are scary moments and a lot of violence in this movie. The mermaids are evil. They are not like Ariel in anyway. There are also a lot of sword fighting as well.
Make sure that you stay through the end of the credits, there is a fun tidbit at the end.
I really like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and recommend it to others who are fans of the franchise.
