I attended an advanced screening for my review. All opinions are my own.
“The film tells an inspiring and spirited true story that follows young lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she teams with her husband Marty to bring a groundbreaking case before the U.S. Court of Appeals and overturn a century of gender discrimination. The feature will premiere in 2018 in line with Justice Ginsburg’s 25th anniversary on the Supreme Court.”-©Focus Features
I have been so excited to see the movie, On the Basis of Sex. I loved the cast and I was excited to see a movie based on Ruth Bader Ginsberg. I thought this movie was fantastic.
I thought the cast all did well. I thought that Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer were great together as the Ginsbergs. They had such great chemistry. I thought Felicity Jones did well capturing the spirit of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The surprise for me was Sam Waterston. I am used to seeing him as the ‘good lawyer’. As the viewer, you really do not like his character in the movie. He played an unlikable character very well.
I liked that this movie did not push a certain political agenda or view. The court case that the movie is focused on was not just about women’s rights but equals rights for all genders. It is a movie that people should enjoy, regardless of their political opinions.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for some language and suggestive content.” It deserves its rating for the language. The ‘f-word’ is used in the film. I would recommend this movie for older teens and adults.
I loved watching On the Basis of Sex. It is a well done and inspirational biopic. I definitely recommend it!!
