My girls absolutely love books and love to read. This past year my 8 year old has really gotten into reading. She was pretty against it the last few years, but something just clicked and her reading skills have seriously just amazed me! She is reading above and beyond her grade level and likes to read at bedtime instead of watching TV or other things. I am so impressed with her! She absolutely loves to read to her younger sisters who are 5 and 1.5 years old.
Charlotte my 5 year old will be heading to kindergarten in the fall and is just now starting to piece together some letters to form a word. We received the National Geographic books and she couldn’t wait to start! I had her sit down with me with the book “Hop Bunny” which is pre-reader level. She was able to sound out the word HOP which is used quite a bit in the cute book! Then she wanted to try other words, she couldn’t really read those but Hey it’s a start!
I have always really enjoyed reading and love when my kids can get into it too. Charlotte loves to try and figure out words, we have set up a little reading area on our couch or downstairs in a little Teepee Reading nook.
My girls love to learn and so this set from National Geographic was perfect!
The titles that were included were: Hop, Bunny!, Red Pandas, Follow, Me!, Los Dinosaurios, Mars, Sharks, Sacagawea and Animal Ark. Each book is unique with lots of information and of course colorful pictures.
National Geographic Kids has an amazing Super Readers section on their website. It has games, posters, videos, prizes and more, and it’s free! I love that my girls can learn to read and love reading by exploring these colorful books. All of my kids will love these as much as I have.
