Columbia Pictures is providing an all expenses paid trip to the Miracles From Heaven Press Junket and Screening- all opinions are my own.
MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN is based on the incredible true story of the Beam family. When Christy (Jennifer Garner) discovers her 10-year-old daughter Anna (Kylie Rogers) has a rare, incurable disease, she becomes a ferocious advocate for her daughter’s healing as she searches for a solution.
After Anna has a freak accident and falls three stories, a miracle unfolds in the wake of her dramatic rescue that leaves medical specialists mystified, her family restored and their community inspired.
By now, you know I had the awesome opportunity to see an early screening of Miracles From Heaven.
But what you don’t know, is what I actually thought of the movie! We were sworn to secrecy until the opening of the film. =)
Miracles From Heaven follows the story of a family from Texas- who is based on a very real family, with the same, real story. The movie begins and we see a near perfect family- 3 happy girls, 2 hard working parents- lots of love, community, and joy. You will instantly fall in love with this family- and your heart will drop as the story follows with the heartwrenching medical complications Annabel goes through. Watching this family see doctor after doctor, searching for answers, gives you a new perspective once again. Gratitude for the blessings in your life, and strength for the hard stuff.
And you guys- KYLIE ROGERS ACTING ABILITY! She was honestly amazing. She’s 12!! She truly takes you into the story and you will be totally engrossed. Not to say anything about the incredible Jennifer Garner. Or the other supporting roles- Martin Henderson, Eugenio Derbez, and the one and only Queen Latifah. This film is BLESSED with talent. I honestly think that from the bottom of my heart. Christian films often have cheesy actors and lame storylines- this is NOT one of those movies. It’s a well-done, high quality film. And honestly? Even though there is a faith-based undertone, I definitely think this is a movie for anyone of any spiritual (or non-spiritual) background. There is inspiration to be found for anyone. This is a movie you bring your whole family to. One that you all cry at together, and hug each other tight as you leave the theater.
The music was also another huge piece they got right- it was amazing. There was a mixture of Christian and secular music- and if you are a fan of Christian music like our family is, you’re going to LOVE the songs they put in there, and the way they did it. No spoilers- but it’s awesome. And it made me want to jump right into that small little Texas church and belt out some praises!
While I was sitting in the theater, I would have given almost anything for my kids to appear so I could squeeze them close. It’s that kind of movie- the kind that makes you thankful for everything in your life. The kind that reminds you that miracles are EVERYWHERE. They are in the huge, big, falling 30 feet and being healed- but they are also in the kind stranger, the sleeping infant, the school project finally finished… If you pay attention, you can see life as one big series of little miracles, one after the other.
You will walk away from this movie uplifted. Isn’t that the just the kind of thing you need in today’s crazy world?
