I attended an advance screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”-©Marvel Studios
I love the Marvel studios films and I have been so excited to see BLACK PANTHER. This movie was fantastic. It is a wonderful addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I thought the storyline of this film was excellent. It had a very quick pace. BLACK PANTHER seemed to have a more serious tone than some of the other Marvel movies that have come out lately. This movie is not a stand-alone movie. If you have not seen other movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially Captain America: Civil War, you may be a bit confused and lost. This movie picks up right after that film.
The special effects and visuals in this movie were fantastic, especially the action scenes. There is a really neat car chase that is a definite stand out. I thought it was one of the coolest car chases that has been done in a Marvel film.
I thought the cast in this movie was fantastic, especially the female characters. There is definitely a lot of women empowerment featured in this film. Women play a huge role in running the country of Wakanda. I also liked that Martin Freeman returned to this film to play Agent Everett Ross. I thought he was underutilized in Civil War. I was so glad to see him more in this film.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for prolonged scenes of action violence and a brief rude gesture” (a character ‘flipping off’ another character in a playful manner). I personally thought that this movie was more violent than some of the previous Marvel movies. Saying this though, I do think if your children have watched previous films in the franchise, they will be okay viewing this one.
I loved watching BLACK PANTHER. I thought it was a great film. Make sure you stay through the credits for two additional scenes.
