Summer is here and we are all excited in our house! It is such a fun time to get out and play in the warm sun. But it is also very important to me that my kids still read in the summertime. Especially my son who just finished first grade. He has become a really good reader and I am so proud of him, but I want to make sure during the summer, he doesn’t forget all those skills and words he learned in school.
Of course getting him to take a break from all the play time to read can be a challenge. That is why I was so happy when I was introduced the the Disney Story Central App.
Disney Story Central is designed to encourage kids to develop a lifetime love of reading.
“Disney Story Central is the largest collection of Disney digital stories, featuring a wide array of Disney stories and characters that kids and families know and love. The cross-platform experience is available via iPhone and iPad app, tablet-optimized website and Video on Demand (AT&T U-Verse).”
It is full of fun Disney Stories for my kids to enjoy. My son loves this app and the books we have downloaded. He actually chooses to read the stories on his own which is so great. He likes that he can find books about his favorite characters and movies like Big Hero 6 and even the new upcoming movie Inside Out.
My daughter who is 3 also loves the app. She loves all the princess books, her favorites are The Little Mermaid books. I like that it gives the option to have the book read to you or to read the book yourself. Since my daughter can’t yet read, she loves having the stories read to her.
Both kids really like that the app rewards their reading with stars and trophies. They also like that it is easy to find books about specific characters by clicking on their images.
The app is free to download and you will get some free books when you download. Then you have the option to purchase tokens to buy books, or to buy book sets. There is also an option to purchase a subscription where your kids can have access to all of the fantastic Disney books for just $7.99 a month.
“Disney Story Central gives families the freedom to choose the reading experience that suits them best, whether through an annual subscription service or a-la-carte options, using Disney Book Tokens.”
