I attended a pre-screening of Lucy for my review. All opinions are my own.
“From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.”(C) Universal

I think Scarlett Johansen did an excellent job as Lucy in this movie, I think she is a very good actress and was believable as Lucy. The movie has a lot of action and keeps you on the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that when it ended I felt like I wanted more. It seems to be a little too fast paced and I would have liked to see a little more of what she could do with her newfound brain capacity. It has a running time of about an hour and a half so I guess that explains why it felt short. But I would rather have it end with me wanting more than be begging for it to end as with some boring 2 hour plus movies (my personal preference).
Regardless of the above, I thought the Lucy movie was very entertaining and it is worth seeing. It is a great concept and it gets you thinking. It even made me laugh more than I expected it to. It would make the perfect date night movie since I think both men and women will enjoy it.
Lucy is rated R for strong violence, disturbing images and sexuality.
