Emi’s (owner) Story:

I am the owner and designer of everything kishu baby. With each of my designs, my goal is to strike the perfect balance between function and fashion. I use only premium muslin fabrics imported from my home country of Japan. Made in California and sealed with a kish!

The daughter of a seamstress, I grew up in the countryside of Nagoya, Japan. My first thought of moving to America was while watching Titanic in the theater. It was the scene where Jack climbs the rail of the ship and shouts “I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!” That’s when it hit me. Yes, I’m a dreamer. I’m also a risk-taker (but definitely was not planning to travel by boat!).

I arrived in Los Angeles in 2000. Twelve years later, after finishing language school, working as a sushi waitress, meeting an American boy, graduating Cal State University Northridge, getting married, and having a baby, I started sewing. What started as a hobby, turned into a passion, turned into a business. I formed Kishu Baby LLC in July of 2015.

We make adorably stylish and luxuriously soft baby bibs, bonnets and blankets. Cut and sewn from premium cotton muslin imported from Japan, made in the USA.

My hubby Ken joined me full-time in September 2015 as co owner of kishu baby. With a background in visual design, Ken is creative director, webmaster, packaging designer, product photographer, copywriter, marketer… he wears a lot of hats. We are a small family owned business on a mission to introduce our premium Japanese muslin fabrics to the Western world while providing excellent customer service and having a lot of fun in the process.

Gone are the days of unfortunate and unstylish bibs… Baby bibs can be an accessory for baby, as well as be practical to combat drool, spit up, and spilled milk. Kishu Baby has absolutely gorgeous bibs, you won’t even know how to choose between them. The colors are absolutely phenomenal. Emi certainly has a great taste for color, fabric, and how to put it all together! She is a Japanese American and uses really high quality muslin from Japan- it’s obvious she knows what shes doing, and that she makes each of her bibs with a bit of love! These bibs are truly amazing, and I think they’re especially great for fall! Many of her stylish bibs look like a scarf, so again, you’ve mixed practicality with adorableness!
