I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar®-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe.
From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.” –©Universal Pictures
I am a fan of the Jurassic Park films and I have been so excited for Jurassic Park: Dominion. After viewing the film, I thought that is just an okay conclusion to the series.
I struggled with the storyline of the film. It felt silly and underdeveloped. The movie was too much like other movies in the series. It was very predictable. I wish that Jurassic Park: Dominion would have been more original. The movie is also too long at almost 2 and a 1/2 hours. I struggled with it holding my attention.
I thought that the visual effects were fantastic with even more amazing dinosaurs added into this film. There are also some great action and chase scenes.
I felt like the cast did a great job with the material that they had to work with. I was so excited that they brought back the original trio (Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum) from the first film. I do wish the film makers had used Jeff Goldblum a little more. He provided many of the film’s best comedic moments.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for intense sequences of action, some violence, and language”. Jurassic Park: Dominion has about the same amount of violence and gore as the previous films in the Jurassic Park series. If your kids have seen the other ones, they will be fine with this one.
Overall, I was disappointed with Jurassic Park: Dominion. I do think that fans will probably want to see this movie to know how everything wraps up but I’m not sure I would watch it again.
Jurassic Park: Dominion is now playing in theaters!
