Leah and I were able to go to an advanced screening of Into the Woods and it was Incredible! I can’t express how much both of us enjoyed this movie. Into the Woods opens Christmas Day and it is a great one to go see with the entire family. Leah and I loved the music, the acting, the scenery and most of all the stories. I had seen the play a long time ago and couldn’t really remember the storyline. I loved every second of it. The Witch (played by Meryl Streep) The Baker (played by James Corden) Baker’s Wife (Emily Blunt) Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Jack (Daniel Huttlestone) Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford) The Big Bad Wolf (Johnny Depp) and more are just a few of the main characters that I absolutely adore.
The beginning scene is going through each of their lives and goes on to tell why each of them MUST GO Into the Woods! The Baker and his wife want a baby, Red Riding Hood is visiting granny, Jack of course to sell the cow. The movie starts off in song and just gets better from there. The characters lives all intertwine in one way or other and you wonder who will come out on top and who will fall short! Will Cinderella fall in love with her prince, will the Baker and his wife get a Baby, will the Witch get what she seeks, will Jack and his Mom finally be able to eat? Rapunzel is also visited and I love her story! If there is one movie that needs to be seen on Christmas and any other day after it’s this one. In fact Leah wants to take Daddy and Charlotte to go see it again, which of course I would love to go see it again too!
Each character has a great story and loves to tell it through song, when you think you have a character pegged…well just go Into the Woods and you will see how much they may change from the fairy tales that you once thought you knew.
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on several of the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)-all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.
