I attended an advanced screening of this movie for my review. All opinions are my own.
“In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, “Into the Storm” throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.” (C) Warner Bros
I was interested in seeing Into The Storm. I was hoping for a great disaster movie. I will say that I did not love this movie.
There were a lot of flaws with this movie, one of the main problems was that it did not have a very good script. It was very predictable and did not have great dialogue. There were some moments in my screening when the audience would be laughing at parts of the film that were not supposed to be funny. The acting was not very good in the movie either.
This movie is filmed to feel like a documentary. There are times when, as the viewer, you are looking through the lens and point of view of characters in the stories. Sometimes this works well for the film, sometimes it does not. At some points in the movie, the handheld camera movement made me dizzy.
One thing I will say that Into The Storm had some pretty impressive special effects. The tornado and storm scenes were really intense. The storm and tornado scenes were the best part of the film.
I think that overall, if you want to watch a disaster movie with pretty cool special effects, this is a movie you might want to think about seeing. Just be prepared to laugh and be disappointed with some bad screenwriting and acting.
Into The Storm is now playing in theaters. It is rated PG-13 for “for sequence of intense destruction and peril, and language including some sexual references.” For more information about the movie, you can go to the official website for the film.
