Six months after moving into our new house and I am still trying to create a space that reflects my taste. It’s coming along slower than I would like since I’m not a master painter, but I am one step closer now that I have my half bath painted. I was sent a wall stencil to review from Royal Design Studio and was really excited to use it on one of the bathroom walls!
Stenciling a wall is such a great way to boost the look of any room and with the selection a Royal Design Studio, I was confident that I would be able to find something to fit my style. I was lucky enough to be able to choose which stencil I wanted to review and honestly, it took me days and days to decide which one was perfect for my bathroom. I am not much for ‘fancy decor’ (although I love it in other people’s homes), and usually lean toward a chic style using my favorite colors. All of my favorite stencils from Royal Design Studio reflected that style and I ultimately went with the Endless Circles Lattice Moroccan Stencil. It is a medium sized pattern that I knew would work well with the size of wall I planned to stencil and I couldn’t wait to get started with it.

My wall started off as an Ivory white because I wanted to lighten up the feel of the bathroom. Since there isn’t a window, I didn’t want to use a color that would make it feel like a cave ;). I had two colors in mind to stencil the Endless Circles Lattice and it was a BIG decision between a darker navy blue or a Mint color. I settled on the mint mostly because I didn’t want the pattern to be a huge statement but rather a soft and subtle look. And because I want to pair it with gold wall hangings and mint looks superb with gold accents!
I’ll be honest, stenciling is kind of an intimidating project. I pretty much just sucked it up and went to town painting my wall with my Royal Design Studio stencil. The only supplies I used were paint (of course), a small sponge roller, tape, and a paper towel to get the excess paint off my roller. It took about 3 coats to get my pattern onto the wall so it certainly took some time to finish the whole wall. I did about a row a day and that was enough for me ;).
I’m and nowhere close to being a master painter and unfortunately, I usually mess up a little bit when it comes to using paint. Through no fault of the stencil, I did mess up the pattern a bit in the beginning, which sort of threw the whole wall off, but I was able to redeem myself because the Endless Circles Lattice pattern is so forgiving. If you look closely, you will see some mistakes, but I am pretty proud of how it all turned out (It was difficult getting a picture because it is a small bathroom, but below you can see how the finished pattern looks). The lighting in my bathroom brightens the mint color a lot, but I think once I get some wall hangings in there, it is going to be perfect! I love this stencil and am already planning my next project with it (I’m thinking my laundry room needs the dark blue pattern!).
