Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences – a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.
Over the years, I have had a lot of fun watching the Ice Age films. I was excited to see the group’s next adventure in the newest addition, Ice Age: Continental Drift.
This movie was your typically Ice Age film. There were not many surprises but it is a great family film. It really emphasizes the great importance of family and love.
Once again, you can tell that the cast is having fun. There are some new additions to the fun this time around. Jennifer Lopez plays Shira, a saber tooth tiger and Keke Palmer is the voice of Peaches, Manny and Ellie’s daughter. My favorite new addition was not a huge role. Heather Morris (who plays Brittany on the tv series, Glee) plays a teenage mammoth named Katie. This mammoth looks so much like her real life counterpart and she acts like Brittany on Glee. This character made me laugh.
My absolute favorite part of the movie was also my favorite from the previous films and that is the character of Scrat. He makes me laugh so much in his desperate attempts to get his precious acorn. They have come up with some very creative adventures for Scrat this time around. We finally see what really happened to the lost city of Atlantis. Let’s say Scrat had something to do with it.
Also included with the film, is a new Simpsons short involving Maggie Simpson at daycare. It is kid appropriate and I was laughing so hard. I am not a huge fan of the Simpsons but I thought it was awesome!
So, if you are looking for a fun family film for this weekend, you should check out Ige Age: Continental Drift. With a great message and great funny moments, it is definitely one to see.
