Whether you’re on a trip to the grocery store, taking the older kids to the park, or going on a fun outdoor excursion, one of the most important things to consider is how to keep baby comfortable while on the go. What are the must-have tools and go-to tricks that every parent needs to know when going out and about with their little bundle of joy? Check out our favorite ways to keep little ones snug and comfy while on the go.
Come Prepared
Before you take off for your errands and adventures, make sure to take inventory of your diaper bag and make sure you have everything you need to help keep your baby comfortable while you’re out. Make sure you have some diapers, a pacifier, some age-appropriate toys, and whatever supplies you need to feed them all ready to go in your bag. Don’t forget a comfy swaddle blanket, an extra set of clothes, and ointment just in case!
You can never be too prepared when it comes to going out with baby, so don’t be shy about your diaper bag packing list. While you’re getting everything ready, go ahead and toss in your sunnies and a protein bar. Mama needs to be taken care of, too!
Keep Them Close
One surefire way to keep your baby happy and comfortable while out and about is to keep them close to your body. There are so many perks when it comes to babywearing, from promoting positive physical development to strengthening your bond with one another. Your scent and the feeling of your skin will keep them calm and snug as you go throughout your day and take care of all of your errands.
Whether you opt for a sling, a wrap, or a baby carrier, babywearing while out and about is a great way to keep your little one comfortable. This is the best baby carrier that we’ve been able to find in terms of comfort for both mother and baby, and is sure to last for years to come!
Keep Their Schedule in Mind
As you map out your day and put together your to-do list of things to take care of or adventures to go on while you’re out, keep your baby’s needs in mind. It’s hard to solidify their schedule in those first few months, and that certainly doesn’t mean that you have to be sequestered in your home until they’re on a firm napping schedule.
Run through the possibilities in your head- what if my baby needs to be fed while we’re out? Be sure to pack bottles and formula or breastmilk, or back the needed supplies for breastfeeding. What if my baby gets tired and needs a nap? Consider how you do naptime at home- bring what you need to make their area as dark as possible, such as a lightweight blanket to drape over their carseat, as well as any pacifiers or loveys they might be using when at home in their crib or bassinet.
You’ve Got This!
We know that it can be intimidating getting out with your baby. We also know that taking the time to properly prepare and make sure you have all the right supplies is a great way to alleviate any stress or anxiety you might feel about your outing and instead help you feel excited and capable. So prep your schedule, write your to-do’s, and pack your diaper bag! You have everything you need to keep baby comfortable on the go!
