I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“In ‘Hot Pursuit,’ an uptight and by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Sofia Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas, pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen.” — (C) New Line
I love both Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara. I was so excited that they were doing a movie together. I thought that the trailers and commercials for Hot Pursuit made it look absolutely hilarious. I knew it was a movie I was going to need to see.
After watching Hot Pursuit, I wished it had been a better movie. If you have watched the trailer for the film, you basically will know what to expect from this movie. There were some funny laughs but some of the jokes were dumb and some were a bit racist.
One great thing about this movie was that Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara had great chemistry together. Some of the most funny parts of the film were the interactions between these two. I bet they had a ton of fun working together on this movie. I hope they do a movie together again but that they are given some better material to work with next time.
This movie deserves it PG-13. A lot of the jokes will go over children’s heads but there is a lot of language and some violence in the film as well. I would leave the kids home for this one.
So overall, if you are looking for a slapstick buddy comedy, Hot Pursuit is a movie you may enjoy. Just do not expect the most intriguing and best storytelling ever.
