I am being compensated for this post. All opinions are my own.
Self esteem is something that I unfortunately didn’t have a lot of while growing up. It really made a huge difference in my life and it wasn’t until I was an adult that I learned how to improve my self esteem and now I am in a great place.
Since I have a daughter I am going to instill in her a great self esteem. As a mom my daughter looks up to me and trusts what I say. It is so important that the things I say to her are uplifting and self esteem building.
I don’t think you can start too early. My daughter is only 16 months, and even though she is a baby I am teaching her to love herself. I say things like “your so smart” and “your such a sweet girl”. These are true statements and will teach her to love herself. She is a beautiful baby and so I tell her she is pretty but beauty isn’t just skin deep. I want her to see that she is beautiful on the inside as well.
Kroger has teamed up with the Dove® Self-Esteem Project. Their hope is to reach over 15 million girls with self esteem building programs by 2015. Proceeds from every Dove purchase will go towards this.
Dove® and Kroger have also partnered with the Boys and Girls Club, Girls Scouts and Girls Inc. Each time you purchase Dove products at a Kroger store this will also contribute to self esteem programs for girls!
I also love that you can download the Dove Self-Esteem Toolkit which has activity suggestions for you to help build self esteem in the girls in your life. You can host a “Just Us Girls Night” with the girls in your life. It’s a great time to build self esteem for the girls in your life. I can’t wait for when I can take my daughter out to get our nails done, go to dinner, & go shopping. Those will be our sweet times that we can chit chat about life and I can give her any advice she needs and build her self esteem. It will be so fun!
You can help spread the word about this wonderful program by joining the conversation online using the hashtag #GirlsUnstoppable. Let’s all help build self esteem in young girls so we will have strong confident women in our future! Girl Power!
