My husband and I were really excited when we were asked to review the new movie Gravity, which is now in theaters. Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney and is rated PG-13, I would recommend kids under 13 not to see this, some of the content or dialogue might be over there heads unless explained by an adult.
I really enjoyed Gravity, especially in 3D. I think that the best way to enjoy this movie is to see it in 3D, it just wouldn’t be the same in 2D. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney play astronauts that are very different. Dr Ryan Stone (played by Sandra Bullock) is on her very first mission in outerspace with Matt Kowalsky (played by George Clooney) who is on his last mission to outer space ever. There are so many different obstacles that are thrown their way. I was really surprised how calm Dr. Ryan Stone acted. During her storyline you could tell she was really battling some inner turmoil. This was a great way for Sandra Bullock to show her range of character. I would say it is one of the best movies where she really dug deep into her character. One of the best parts is when Matt Kowalsky has to save Dr. Stone’s life in more than one way. I think he really helps her save herself through different lessons he teaches her out in the deep blue of space. I was literally on the edge of my seat for half the movie wondering how these 2 characters were going to get back to earth.
Here is what my husband thought of the movie: “The footage was unique because almost all of it was set in space. It was unlike any movie that I had ever seen where the law of Gravity doesn’t apply.”
This was a very unique and interesting take on the happenings of space. I thought that the graphics were phenomenal!
“I thought that Gravity was an amazing movie. It by far exceeded my expectations. There are several things I loved about this movie. First, were the incredible special effects. All of this movie takes place in space and it was really cool to see how different things would react in a zero gravity environment. I am not a fan of 3D films but Gravity is definitely a movie to watch in 3D. You will not get the same experience watching this in a regular 2D format. Second, the performances were fantastic. This is definitely Sandra Bullock’s movie. This movie is about her character’s experience of survival trying to get back to Earth. Her performance is very intense and you are invested into story because of it. Third, the running time of this movie is 90 minutes. It is very intense and to the point. Some movies are way too long but this movie does not have a dragging feeling. That is one thing that I love about the director, Alfonso Cuaron’s films. He tells a great and intense story in an appropriate amount of time. Gravity is definitely a movie that I would not
“GRAVITY, directed by Oscar (R) nominee Alfonso Cuaron, stars Oscar (R) winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone” mind viewing several more times. Everything you want in a great space movie is included in this film. I would definitely expect to see Gravity as a contender at next year’s Oscars. It deserves to be recognized and is a movie that I recommend highly.”-Nicole
