Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends Nintendo 3DS Game Review

Hello again Bragging Mommy Readers and friends! I hope that everyone has enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend with family and friends or just took in a little of the sunny day in! We had a lovely time outside fishing on Memorial Day and spent some time playing with some of the items my son Taylor got for his birthday this year. One of the items that we gave him was a Nintendo 3DS XL. I was asked to review the game Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends right around the same time that I had bought the 3DS for him. So, keeping my son in mind of course, I accepted the offer. I decided that this weekend would be a good weekend to try it out, so, I “borrowed” the new 3DS from Taylor in order to do my duty of reviewing a product for you lovely followers! I told him that mommy had to do a little “work” and giggled a little inside as I walked away.

So I feel a little guilty getting a game for myself to play on my sons NEW DS but I rationalized it as I was doing my work by informing our readers about the game in case they would like to buy it for themselves. I am just doing my job *Wink Wink*! It was not hard to wrestle away the DS to be honest because this year Taylor received so many gifts that he has been busy playing with all of them and did not even miss the DS. I popped my little Gardening Mama2: Forest Friends game cartridge in and selected the little square to start the game. I do not want to lead you guys on so I will tell you that I am not very good at video games usually. I just do not have the correct eye hand coordination to control a million buttons on a controller while using a direction pad and reading the screen all at once. For me to enjoy a game it has to be fairly simple and easy but with a lot of options and surprises to encounter. Gardening Mama2 : Forest Friends was right up my alley. It is a game that I had a fairly easy time getting the hang of. To be completely honest, this game has me addicted to it and I actually hid the DS from Taylor so that I could play it again today. I know! Terrible mommy move but I will give it back after today I promise! 🙂

So the fun thing about Gardening Mama2: Forest Friends is that your stylus becomes a universal gardening tool. You end up using that stylus to nurture and harvest flowers, fruits and vegetables. You get to add soil, water, and plant the seeds then watch them grow. You win new seeds and different fruits and vegetables to grow. It is really fun for someone like myself who can not keep a plant alive normally at all. You get to do fun things with the plants you grow. I carved a jack-o-lantern out of the pumpkins I grew! It was really neat. The game does not just end in the garden basically! I have never really been into video games and I always put a time limit on the time that I allow the kids to play their video games but I was actually “stuck” playing this game. I found that I was unable to find a good time to put the game down once I really started to get going and harvesting. It is just so much fun to give my mommy mind a small break and have some fun worrying about my little Gardening Mama! If my opinion counts for anything then I will tell you all that this is definitely a fun game that is worth trying out. We all deserve some me time and should take the time to be a little silly once in a while. Why not play some video games too!
