I attended an advance screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
I have been excited to see FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS because of its great cast. I also thought the movie looked funny. I really enjoyed watching FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS.
The movie FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS is based on a true story. Florence Foster Jenkins was a New York socialite who loved music. She dreamed about being a famous opera singer but does not realize that she may not have the right singing voice for opera.
The movie’s cast is absolutely fantastic. Meryl Streep, as always, steals the show as the title role. I think it take a lot of skill to sing as poorly as she does in the film. I also loved Hugh Grant as Florence’s husband, St. Clair Bayfield. He brought a depth and warmth to the character. The biggest surprise for me was Simon Helberg as Cosme McMoon, Florence’s pianist. His character is very quirky but hilarious in the movie.
I laughed a lot watching this movie. I also really connected and fell in love with the characters in this movie. I really liked the message of this movie. It is a movie about doing whatever you can for the people you love and living out your dreams regardless of what others may think. I definitely had a smile on my face watching this movie.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for brief suggestive material.” It is a pretty mellow PG-13 but the intended audience for this film is definitely adults and not kids.
I really liked FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS and I can definitely recommend it.
