I attended an advanced screening of this film. All opinions are my own.
“After eight films that have amassed almost $5 billion worldwide, the
Fast & Furious franchise now features its first stand-alone vehicle as
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard
Shaw in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal
agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw
(Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s
Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to
take each other down.
But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist
Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter
humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The
Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn
enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder
than themselves.
Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the
Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London
and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.”-©Universal

I love the Fast and the Furious franchise. I have been pretty excited to see Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. I thought that this was a really fun movie.
I really loved the cast in this movie. I loved seeing Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have great chemistry together. Their playful quarreling is hilarious. I thought that Vanessa Kirby was a great addition as well. She played a very strong female character. I was also surprised by a couple of great cameos in the film.
I thought that the storyline was fun. It was a little ridiculous but I was entertained. This movie has a lot of fighting and fun car chases. It is exactly what you expect from a Fast and Furious film. In the movie, we get a little more background into Hobbs’s family history. It was fun that the filmmakers incorporated some of the Samoan culture into the film.
This movie is rated PG-13 “for prolonged sequences of action and violence, suggestive material and some strong language.” There was quite a bit of coarse language, swearing (the f-word is used a couple of times), and some violence. I would say it is equivalent to the violence and language in the other recent Fast and the Furious films. I personally do not think that this movie is appropriate for younger kids. I think older teens and adults are a better audience for the film.
I really liked watching Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. It is an entertaining action film.
