Chapter 1: Short summary of my life before I started my business
Since I started my business at the age of 12 I’ll sum up most of my life before my business. I was always fun, energetic, super intelligent, a leader, & more since birth. I was singing and dancing at the age of 3 because I had to let my energy out somehow right?
School
When I started school I always liked learning. I was always the one with my hand up trying to participate, asking thousands of questions, and overall throwing myself into education. I’ve always had honor roll (A’s and once in a blue moon a B) I worked hard for my grades since kindergarten. In about 2nd grade I joined my school’s choir, joined a play because why not, and overall tried my hardest to get more involved in school besides academics.
Outside of school
I then started youtube in the summer of going from 6th to 7th. I’ve heard over and over how great my personality and how great I would be on anything revolving around a camera. So I said why not just have fun with it and see where it goes. So, I’ve been doing youtube since then, some months consistent some not ,but I plan to stay super consistent this year with youtube. I also have 3 siblings but before my sister was born about 2 years ago, it was just my 2 siblings, my parent, and I. We played board games all the time (competitive family) and would overall spend a lot of quality time together. I never was into any sports or any afterschool things besides choir I really focused on my education the most.
Chapter 2: What is LovelyLai Cosmetics? Why did I start it?
Since I’m a person who needs to be organized, a lot of things planned, and overall in control of my life I already knew what I wanted to do after highschool. Which is college and probably go for a major in the tech field. I’ve always been interested in phones,computers, etc. Then I got to thinking about how I could save for college but I knew I was under age to work so that was crossed off the list. And plus, I knew I didn’t really want a boss if you want to be honest. So, after tons of research a business popped in my mind and I said “yes. That’ll be what I will do to save”. I then started researching and decided I love lipgloss so why not create my own.
I then thought of what I don’t like about lipgloss and it’s definitely white gunk and especially stickiness. That’s how I knew how to make my lipgloss stand out from the others. I then put countless days into research and eventually came out with a product. All of my products are handmade and cruelty-free! I then launched my business in the middle of april but took down my site to redo everything. I then relaunched when I was 13 after my birthday around May 15th. All of my squeeze tubes were $6 and after I relaunched again in October I added wand tubes which are $10. All of my earnings then go to my savings for college!
Chapter 3: My business journey
If your starting a business more than likely, not a lot of people are going to know that in the world. So I used what I knew best to get more exposure for my business. I then created a instagram, twitter, tiktok, and also promoted my business on my youtube videos. The one page that really took off was my instagram @lovelylaicosmetics and then I started working with other people, receiving shoutouts, and overall lots of support! The first month of running my business it was slow but I stayed persistent and eventually a lot of great things started happening for my business!
I also started continued with my business during the school year from september of 2020 to june of 2021. I kept up all of my grades with honor roll each semester and was 100% submerged with my business with a relaunch, collabs, content creating, & more! Overall my journey that I have been on so far has been very exciting, hectic at times, lots experiences, and eventful. I can’t be anymore grateful or thankful for it all it’s only been a year but it felt like a lifetime.
