Kybella® is an FDA-approved treatment that is injected to boost the appearance of fat beneath the chin, alternatively referred to as submental fullness. It contains deoxycholic acid, a natural molecule in the body that helps in dietary fat breakdown and absorption. Once inserted into the fat beneath the chin via small injections, Smithtown Kybella triggers your body’s natural process of destroying the fat cells. Over the next few months, your body breaks down and removes these cells to be excreted naturally through your digestive system.

Uses a naturally occurring ingredient: Kybella® uses an acid naturally found in the body called deoxycholic acid, which causes the breakdown of fat cells. It is delivered via injection into the fatty tissue just below your chin. These cells begin to dissolve and shrink when this happens, causing the skin above them to be lifted upwards and creating a more contoured appearance.
Minimally-invasive treatment: Kybella is a minimally-invasive treatment that doctors have used for years to reduce the appearance of fat on the chin or double chin. Injectable fillers can also be used in this area, but Kybella is less invasive because it is not injected. Instead, you are given a series of injections in the fat beneath your chin, which causes your body to dissolve and flush out that fat.
Positive and fast results: Kybella has been FDA-approved since April 2015 and has proved effective in clinical trials and real-world applications. Patients can see results within two weeks after their first treatment, which becomes increasingly more noticeable over time.
Are there any side effects?
Kybella can be done quickly, with little downtime and discomfort involved, to reduce the appearance of fat below your chin. While multiple treatments might be required to achieve your desired results, many patients see significant improvement after just one injection. Most side effects are mild and short-lived, including swelling, bruising, pain or tenderness around the injection site, and headaches. There are currently no long-term side effects associated with using Kybella.
